The public is invited to attend the Greater Pine Island Civic Association’s General Meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6. The meeting is at the Elks Lodge, just West of the four way stop sign.
Dr. Joe Mazurkiewicz of BJM Consulting will make a presentation on the incorporation of
“The Village of Matlacha-Pine Island.” Joe has successfully incorporated four communities in
Lee County. He authored the 49-page “Matlacha-Pine Island Incorporation Feasibility
Study.” In it, the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of incorporating were analyzed, and three detailed scenarios of five-year Fiscal Forecasts were presented.
Greg Stuart recently made a presentation to the Matlacha Civic Association entitled, “The Case Against Incorporation.” Dr. Mazurkiewicz will address Mr. Stuart’s assumptions, and go over the facts and figures and will sort out any discrepancies between apples-to-oranges comparisons.
A Question and Answer session will follow.
The GPICA is also collecting petitions of people who support the incorporation of The
Village of Matlacha-Pine Island.”
The Greater Pine Island Civic Association is a 501(c) (4) Non-profit Corporation. The Annual
Fiscal Report will be presented to the Membership, and copies will be distributed.

to be appointed to the Incorporation Sub Committee, and they will be introduced.
