Please attend the Greater Pine Island Civic Association’s Meeting 7 p.m. Thursday Jan. 11, 2018. NOTE: This is a week and two days later than our regularly scheduled meeting to allow people to return from the Holidays. The meeting is at the Elks Lodge, just West of the four-way stop sign.
There will be an Incorporation Progress Report, and an introduction to the GPICA.org Website. This is where all the information about the GPICA and the Incorporation will be posted. It is the desire of the GPICA Board to provide full disclosure of all available Minutes and Treasurers Reports. Also, details need to be worked out on The Village of Matlacha-Pine Island Charter.
The GPICA Board has invited the Matlacha Civic Association to submit two Nominees for the Incorporation Sub Committee to that end. A short Question and Answer session will follow, but there is so much information known and unknown that a bigger format may be needed. We would like the membership’s response to hold a Town Hall Meeting like we had for the recent Lee
County Revision to the Pine Island Plan.
There will be a Presentation by Tom and Megan Sorby for a proposed Red Fish Farm in Bokeelia. The property is located at 13171 Samadani Lane. There is no need for any zoning/planning changes. Tom and Megan want to introduce the Project to the community, and answer any questions or address any concerns. Their goal is to establish a facility culturing red fish, bringing a well known, high end seafood back to local plates.
There will be an Election of five GPICA Board Members. Ballots will be handed out at the door to all current GPICA Members who have been members for at least 60 days prior to the meeting. The Nominating Committee will have five recommended Candidates on the Ballot, and there will be lines on the Ballot for write in Candidates nominated from the floor. To be eligible Candidates must be current GPICA members and have been a member for at least six months.
All meetings are open to the public at no charge. We typically meet at the Elks on Pine Island Road, West of Stringfellow, on the first Tuesday of the Month at 7:00 PM. Join or renew membership for $10. per person annual fee. Contact Roger Wood, President at 239-222-7717.
