At the next general meeting on Nov. 6, 2018, GPICA members will be asked to vote on a new restaurant proposed to be built west of Miccelis on Pine Island Road.
The site is 3948 and 3954 Pine Island Rd N.W., Matlacha FL 33993. The proposed restaurant, called the Icehouse Fish Shack, will be raised on stilts and the ground floor will be small retail units intended for artists. Adequate parking and stormwater treatment will be provided on site, and a wood dock will be constructed along the existing seawall to provide boat slips.
The proposed building is planned to be 37 feet 5 inches above grade. The restaurant is slated to seat 150 people and it will 40 parking spaces.
The new owner plans to apply for a liquor license and have dancing.
GPICA meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month at the Greater Pine Island Elks Club, near the fire station on Pine Island Road, just west of the four-way stop sign.
