Our presenter is District 1 Lee County Commissioner Kevin Ruane. Commissioner Ruane was recently elected Chairperson of the Commission. He will discuss the traffic problems facing our community and draw upon his experience as Sanibel mayor and discuss how they addressed similar issues. He will also discuss the water quality issues at Tropical Point Beach.
Pine Island Resident Jeff Waller will present an update on WINK News’ proposal to build a 110-foot Doppler Radar Tower in St James City, and community opposition to the Tower.
The GPICA will also announce the chairperson for the Nominating Committee for the Association annual election, which takes place in February.
The Greater Pine Island Civic Association was incorporated in 1957 and is a 501(c)4 nonprofit community organization that works to protect the coastal-rural character of Pine Island and its enclaves — Matlacha, St. James City, Bokeelia and Pineland — for the betterment of the community and its residents.
