July 2022 Meeting Agenda

Incorporation, Annexation on the Agenda

The incorporation process and an update on the move by Cape Coral to annex properties close to Matlacha are on the agenda for the July meeting of the Greater Pine Island Civic Association.
  • Who: Members and nonmembers are welcome to attend
  • When: 6:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 5
  • Where: In person at the Greater Pine Island Elks Club, just west of the four-way stop at the Center.
  • Livestream Note: We’ll also livestream the meeting to the GPICA Facebook page. Click here just before the meeting starts.
Annexation/Incorporation

Following on the June meeting that was focused on Cape Coral annexations taking place at Pine Island Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway — which were finalized this morning — and the interest members expressed during the meeting, members of the GPICA board will also go over the process through which communities can incorporate. The focus will be merely informational so that all Islanders have a better understanding of the steps needed to become a self-governing community.

Fundraiser/Raffle

We’ll be selling tickets tonight for a special raffle to support the Association’s general fund. We’re honored that one of the Island’s amazing photographers — Martha Huard — has donated a print on canvas (16×20, valued at $125). Titled “The Kiss” it depicts two great blue herons.

Martha’s wildlife images truly capture the beauty of Pine Island and Matlacha — and the things that drew many of us to this tropical paradise.  You can learn more about Martha and her work in this story from the Pine Island Eagle. See more of Martha’s work here.

  • Tickets are $5 per chance (5 chances for $20) and we will be drawing the winner at the end of Mango Mania (Saturday, July 16, at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, at 12175 Stringfellow Road, Bokeelia).
