Remembering Anna Stober

Anna Louise Law Stober of Bokeelia joined her husband, brothers and parents in God’s kingdom on Sunday, November 13, 2022.

Anna loved Pine Island and saw her way through Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Ian. She was active in the Greater Pine Island Civic Association and was instrumental in various revisions and upgrades to the Pine Island Plan. If you met Anna for the first time, she would give you an accurate history of the Calusa Indians and remind you of the importance of the Pine Island Plan.

Those who knew Anna understood her intelligence, passion for causes, love of her cats and pride in her family. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Kevin McAuley, her beloved grandson Ian and his wife Jackie McAuley, two great-grandchildren, Hayden Louis and Sophie Anna, sister-in-law, Ellen Law, and 8 nieces and nephews and their families who were like her own children.

Anna was born in Chicago, raised in Burlington, Iowa, and then spent adult years in Illinois, Michigan and of course Florida. She supported herself through college and was a proud graduate of the University of Iowa. She married Ray Stober after college and had an interesting career, first as the owner of an employment agency in Burlington and later as an HR Director for a Chicago area hospital. Anna and Ray had many wonderful years together as skiers, golfers, volunteers and dedicated parents and grandparents.

Anna has been a member of Fishers of Men Lutheran Church in St James City, FL for 30 years, and is a supporter of Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary, also in St James City.

Donations in Anna’s honor can be sent to either of these organizations.
