Chiquita Lock Lawsuit Update
During the May meeting of the GPICA, members voted to financially support a petition challenging the removal of the Chiquita Lock. (Read more about this issue here.)
Members voted to:
- Approve a one-time expenditure of $2,500 to support legal fees for the challenge being led by the Matlacha Civic Association, the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Association, the Calusa Waterkeeper and several individuals.
- Begin a fundraising campaign whereas the GPICA will provide a dollar-for-dollar match up to a maximum of $5,000 for those who donate to the legal fund.
Funds Raised to Date
